SWIM NAPPIES...
Swim nappies are essentially swimming costumes for little people
Swim Nappies are washable cloth swimming costumes with adjustment snaps, allowing them to fit from around 4Kg’s through to about 16Kg’s. This means that only one swimming costume is really needed –one that will continue to fit snugly as the little one grows. The side snaps are ideal for removing the costume easily in the event of a little accident.
Swim nappies are not designed to be absorbent - they are simply designed to catch solids. There is no need to use disposable nappies underneath the swim nappy. Regular full length costumes/boardshorts/wetsuits/'polyotters' etc may be put on afterwards, once the swim nappy has been correctly fitted first.
Swim nappies consist of an outer PUL (waterproof) lined fabric with a polyester mesh on the inside - neither of these fabrics is particularly absorbent - therefore half the pool is not absorbed when the little one swims.... It also means that the swimming nappy must not be fitted on the way TO the pool - but rather fitted just before entering the water. A swimming nappy is a 'costume' - not an absorbent cloth nappy.... The car seat WILL get wet ....
Remember that swim nappies must be adjusted to fit as tightly as possible - as this is what keeps the poop inside the nappy. It is also important to check regularly for little accidents and to immediately take the little one out of the pool if something suspect is .... suspected !
BiddyKins Swim Nappies are available in two ranges. In the BiddyKins cloth nappy catalogue these can be found in Category M and Category N. The two ranges of swim nappies are produced in different factories and differ slightly in cut (shape of the nappy), however there is little difference in actual performance or overall usability. Both category of swim nappy will fit from around 5Kg til around 16Kg. Our advice to moms regarding which swim nappy to choose is actually very simply: Choose the swim nappy with the print that you like the most - since nappies from either category will work just as well!
